Shop Today Before Budgets Expire

The end of the fiscal year is quickly approaching for most schools so it is time to think about how to use remaining funds. Since most districts have a use-it-or-lose-it policy, administrators often mark the month of June as a time to shop for new furniture for the next school year, plan personal development opportunities and other strategic approaches to spending the remainder of the 2024-25 budget.

New budgets typically start on July 1st.

Furniture takes a beating during the school year and your classroom likely looks different than it did nine months ago. Some furniture pieces may just need a deep cleaning or a few new parts, while others will likely need to be replaced all together.

Desks, Chairs and Activity Tables

Desks, chairs and activity tables are the classroom furniture items most often ordered during the summer months. Your budget may allow for a complete room makeover, but we can also help you find a few pieces that match your current décor.

  • Chairs – When ordering chairs, think about the age and grade of your students. Our Chair Height Buying Guide is a great place to get started. The guide includes a video that shows you the correct way to measure your students for the best-fitting school chairs. You’ll also want to consider the preferred seat material (hard or soft plastic?), colors and whether or not you want your school chairs to be mobile. We have a great selection of school chairs from top brands to fit any preference.
  • Desks and Tables – Some teachers prefer classroom desks while other educators like seating students in clusters at activity tables. The good news is that Schools In has a great selection of both! Consider a mix of tables and desks so students have options on how they learn. One day might involve independent learning at an open-front desk, the next day a teacher-led reading group at a kidney-shaped activity table. Our Tables vs. Desks Guide can help you decide which type of furniture works best in your classroom.

Whiteboards and Display Boards

From whiteboards and easels to bulletin boards and letterboards, we have the boards you need to get your message out loud and clear.

One of the most asked questions we get here at Schools In is, “What is the difference in whiteboard materials?” A quality porcelain-on-steel board is magnetic and lasts for years of classroom use. Melamine whiteboards are more affordable and are a great option for some schools on a budget. Learn more about board surfaces in our Whiteboard Surface Guide.

Classroom Rugs

Rugs are one of the most affordable ways to transform your classroom. A colorful school rug can brighten a space, provide soft floor seating and absorb noise. We offer hundreds of rug themes and sizes in a wide range of colors. Our handy Classroom Rug Finder helps you narrow down your choices.
